Projectal's latest update delivers one of its biggest performance boosts yet, along with a wide range of new features and refinements. From faster database handling and smoother navigation to enhanced cost tracking, resource planning, and reporting, this release is designed to make managing projects, staff, and budgets more efficient. We've also added new customization options, improved importing and exporting, refreshed the interface, and fixed over 100 customer-reported issues. Here's a breakdown of what's new, improved, and fixed in this release.
Projectal has undergone a major revamp in speed, making it even more capable of handling large-scale operations across staff, projects, bookings, resources and tasks. Behind the scenes, the databases have been re-engineered with optimized indexing, improved querying and smarter caching technologies. These changes mean faster response times, even when working with complex projects that have large numbers of tasks. On the front end, the user interface has been fine-tuned for quicker data retrieval, allowing users to navigate screens, reports and planners with a smoother and more productive experience.
For Projectal users, these improvements translate into a smoother, faster experience across the entire platform. Large project schedules load significantly faster, searches return results more quickly, and navigating between screens feels more responsive.
Projectal now includes richer financial data points to help teams plan and track spending more accurately. A new Estimated Cost data point calculates costs from bookings. In addition, a Mixed Cost data point has been added, which combines both estimated costs and fixed cost values for a more balanced financial picture. These enhancements make it easier to monitor budgets, compare planned vs. actual costs, and adjust resources when needed.
The Planner Settings screen now includes a new option to display zero value usage data. Additionally, there's a new option to display staff capacity usage metrics. A new project grouping feature has also been added, allowing you to view resource usage within projects.
New settings allow users to compare budgeted costs with actual costs using booking costings in addition to the existing task costings.
New color-coded settings for non-work exceptions have been introduced. Additionally, new icons and tooltips are displayed next to staff working week settings to indicate whether a staff working week entry is inherited from their location's calendar or an individual entry.
New functions added to display MIN, MAX, SUM, MEAN and GCOUNT values for data points in reports.
New advanced filtering mode enables more flexible and powerful filtering. Quick Search and Filter features across all screens now provide more data points.
New permissions allow access policies to hide and show the Tasks, Gantt, Staff Usage, Kanban and Project dashboard screens. Additionally, there's a new setting that restricts changes to user accounts to only those made when modifying access policies.
Staff usage data is now exported with blank values when they are not employed. Sorting the staff list is now possible using custom field columns. Importing data from a spreadsheet has been improved. Additionally, total values are now displayed in columns, allowing for grouping of rows.
Importing custom field data points is now allowed. Additionally, importing data points for generic staff, resources, and bookings has been enhanced.
Exported reports now contain more columns and data points.
The Total Fixed Duration data point has been added.
Improved appearance of user-created charts and graphs for data view reports.
Updated icons and screens provide a fresher look.
