Connector Spotlight: Cerebro
Synchronize your Projectal data in real-time with Cerebro, a leading tool for tracking and managing tasks and assets during production.
Cerebro is a leading task management and asset management tool used by production teams (artists, coordinators and supervisors) at creative studios to track shots, assignments, and progress at the task level. Studios are also using Projectal for their crew planning, bidding, budgeting, scheduling, scenario planning and high-level project tracking.
To further improve studio workflow, Projectal has created a Cerebro connector that ensures your data flows seamlessly between Projectal and Cerebro, in both directions, in real time.
Why integrate Projectal & Cerebro?
With the Cerebro connector:
- Your project plans, staffing, budgets, and high-level tracking in Projectal remain the "single source of truth".
- Your artists and production coordinators can keep working inside Cerebro without manually duplicating updates.
- When a shot or task status changes in Cerebro, those changes immediately synchronize back to Projectal.
- When a new project or task is created in Projectal (for example, as you firm up your bid or schedule), it can flow directly into Cerebro for the production team.
This two-way sync reduces data entry, avoids mismatches, keeps everyone aligned, and ensures that both your strategic (Projectal) and execution (Cerebro) views stay in sync.
Mapping data between Cerebro and Projectal
The connector is flexible and highly configurable, meaning studios can adapt it to match their existing setup and naming conventions. Typical elements that can be synced include:
- Projects & Tasks: Identifiers, names, descriptions, start/end dates, status, work effort.
- Staff Assignments: Who is assigned to which project/task, and the estimated and actual work effort.
- Progress Updates & Status Changes: In real time, status moves from "In Progress," "Supervisor Review," "Approved," etc.
- Notes & Comments: Feedback that arises in Cerebro (artist, supervisor, reviewer) can flow back to Projectal.
- Task Ordering / Dependencies: Ensuring that the task tree is consistent in both systems.
- Custom Fields: Studios often extend Cerebro with custom fields (e.g. complexity, vendor, version). The connector can map these where needed.
Because both Projectal and Cerebro support event-driven updates, the connector uses webhooks and our Python integration library to maintain real-time synchronization. Whenever something changes in one system, the change is propagated to the other. No manual steps, no lag, no spreadsheets. For example:
- If an artist updates progress on a task in Cerebro, Projectal's scheduling and dashboards update immediately.
- If a producer reassigns a task in Projectal, that assignment is instantly applied in Cerebro.
- If a new shot or sequence is added in Projectal after a bid is won, it can be automatically pushed into Cerebro for the production team.
Availability & Next Steps
The Cerebro connector is now available for all Projectal customers. Our integration team can assist you in tailoring the connector to your setup. We will guide you through installation, mapping configuration and testing.
